Statistics
According to the following charts and graphs, immigration does not look like it is slowing down, and definitely not coming to a stop. These projected statistics are only a glimpse of what the future might hold, and according to the first graph, the Hispanic population alone is supposed to double! The second graph shows that immigration is projected to increase by at least 0.1 million each year. The ratio of illegal immigration to legal immigration is virtually unpredictable, and perhaps in the future, it will not come down to legal status as in the present time. In the end only time will tell because statistics and projections are at best educated predictions.

Laws and Policies
Certain laws and policies that have only been proposed have already made an impression on the future. A recent New York Times article suggests that Republican lawmakers' funding might be cut due to the increasing problem of immigration and the possible obstruction of the Republican party. The article also mentions the government shutdown over the Obama Care funding. Could immigration be the next national debate that becomes so extreme that there will be a repeated government shutdown? Such acts like the DREAMers Act are soon to be in full motion, and then the numbers might actually start rapidly increasing to the projected numbers.

Immigration Reform
The DREAM Act
The DREAM Act is an act that is considered by many to be the comprehensive plan for immigration reform that America has been in needed. This act, called the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) is focused on providing opportunities for those children who were brought to the country without documentation, such as the ability to obtain citizenship. The DREAM Act was first brought before Congress in 2001, and was most recently brought before the Senate in January, 2013. The act has been heavily debated, and has yet to pass.
If it were to pass, the DREAM act would have a significant impact on our economy, as shown below.

America's Voice and America's Voice Educational Fund promotes immigration legislation that includes:
- A direct, fair, and inclusive road to citizenship for immigrants in the U.S. without papers.
- Channels for future legal immigration that are flexible and functional.
- Robust protections and guaranteed rights for all workers.
- Enforcement that is targeted and fair, and respects immigrants’ rights.
- Full and equal rights for all immigrants.
When will reform take place?
Though there are many suggestions on what would create a comprehensive immigration reform plan, Congress has not been able to come to an agreement on a bill. It is believed, however, that a solution to the immigration reform debate will not be passed during this term of Congress.

This chart shows the majority of mostly-white districts are represented by members of the Republican party.
"The overwhelming majority of the Republican House majority voting in favor of any sort of broad (or even narrow) scale immigration reform proposal isn't good politics. At best, reforming immigration is not a top-of-the-mind priority for constituents in most of these districts. At worst, there is opposition to adopting changes that many people believe amounts to amnesty for the 11 million undocumented workers in the U.S."
